Swarovski Couture Looks Illuminate the Met Gala for the Very First Time

For the very first time, Swarovski shone on the Met Gala red carpet with five one-of-a-kind couture looks. To this year's dress code "The Garden of Time", Swarovski Global Creative Director Giovanna Engelbert, responded with ensembles inspired by elements of Nature. She was accompanied by the Spring/Summer 2024 campaign cast and friends of the House, Karlie Kloss, Irina Shayk, Imaan Hammam, and Anok Yai.
Irina Shayk represented Air in a crystal mesh couture gown that took 200 hours to create. The form fitting look created the illusion of light skimming her body, evoking the fluid movement and ethereal nature of the element. The model’s brilliance was intensified with a bespoke Millenia choker and ear cuffs, and layers of Hyperbola and Millenia bracelets, all in luminous clear crystal.
Karlie Kloss embodied a crystal Flower in an embroidered pink silk jersey gown encrusted with 180,000 crystals jewels from Swarovski’s Florere and Millenia families, her dress appearing to morph into its matching floral jewelry pieces. Accentuated by an ornate jeweled corset embellished with 60,500 crystals and 75 Florere jewels, the look took 1,600 hours to create.
Crystal flowers are at the heart of the short story, "The Garden of Time", which inspired this year's Met Gala theme. Pick your own crystalline flowers with light-filled petals and leaves for an everlasting bloom.
Anok Yai became Water in a futuristic tulle catsuit embellished with shimmering ice blue and aquamarine crystals, offset by a stunning Galaxy showpiece necklace crafted with Swarovski Created Diamonds.
